Administrative duty for recognised sponsors expanded

From 1 January 2026, the administrative duty of recognised sponsors will be expanded. They will be required to include additional information in their records. This concerns proof that highly skilled migrants or EU Blue Card holders actually received their salary. For example, a statement from the business bank account or an overview of a batch payment. These documents must show that the salary was deposited into a payment account in the name of the employee.

Currently, the IND only requests payslips or salary specifications. However, these do not prove that the employer has actually paid the salary to the employee. With this change, the IND aims to take more effective action against any abuse of the highly skilled migrant scheme and the European Blue Card.

More information about the administrative obligations can be found here.
