On 17 January 2019, the French weekly magazine Le Point published an article citing Thomas van Houwelingen.

The article titled "Venezuela: Voyage au bout de l'enfer" by French journalist Claire Meynial reports about the dire circumstances Venezuelan refugees endure on the Netherlands Antilles. It is one of a series of articles on the Venezulean crisis that for a part can be read online via this link. Thomas was quoted on the Dutch state’s legal obligations to guarantee fundamental rights in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. 

Thomas was quoted in Dutch daily paper Trouw in April last year on the same subject: the lack of protection of refugees on the Antilles.
