Starting 1 July 2018, Croatian nationals will be free on the Dutch labor market.
The government has announced that the transition period for the free movement of workers from Croatia will not be extended again.
The transition period started when Croatia joined the European Union in 2013, and was extended for a period of three years in 2015. The Dutch government is not making use of the final possibility to extend the transition period with two years.
This means employers no longer need to apply for a work permit for their Croatian employees from 1 July 2018 onwards.
