On 23 June 2017, national newspaper De Volkskrant published an article about British expats who, as a result of the Brexit, choose to obtain another EU nationality to remain citizen of the European Union.

Hermie de Voer, lawyer with Everaert Advocaten and nationality law expert, is quoted in the article.

She comments that obtaining a Dutch passport is probably less attractive than obtaining for instance a German passport, because the Netherlands does not allow dual citizenship, which means you must renounce your British nationality if you apply for Dutch citizenship.
