The Geuzenpenning is awarded annually since 1987, to organizations and individuals. The award's intention is to pay tribute to and support contemporary freedom fighters and human rights defenders.  

This year the badge is awarded to Lawyers for Lawyers, who strive for free and independent professional practice of lawyers worldwide. 

Two of our lawyers, Elles Besselsen and Thomas van Houwelingen, are involved in the organization as volunteers.
