Elles Besselsen was a speaker at this year's Loving Day, June 12th. Together with Betty de Hart, she spoke about the legal hurdles Dutch women encounter when they want to bring their foreign partner to the Netherlands.

Loving Day celebrations commemorate the anniversary of the 'Loving decision' every year on or around June 12th, when a couple named Richard and Mildred Loving won their right to marry. On that day in 1967, the landmark Supreme Court declared all laws against interracial marriage unconstitutional in the United States. The day aims to educate about, and to generate attention for mixed relationships and diversity.

The theme of the Dutch Loving Day this year was 'Love from faraway'.
