    Along with students and highly skilled migrants, holders of a residence permit for an intra company transfer (ICT permit) can now also take up work as a self-employed person. With this decree, the Minister intends to stimulate the Dutch knowledge economy and keep talent in the Netherlands.

  • International exchange Hong Kong - the Netherlands

    As of this year young Hong Kong citizens between 18 and 30 years of age can take part in a cultural exchange with the Netherlands - and vice-versa.

    From 1 April 2020, young people from Japan and Taiwan will have the opportunity to spend a maximum of 1 year in the Netherlands to learn about Dutch culture and society in a mutual exchange programme between our countries.

    Holders of a residence permit Working Holiday Program (WHP) or Working Holiday Scheme (WHS) and their employers should beware: only incidental work is still permitted.

  • Restrictions WHP permit lifted

    Holders of an exchange permit in a Working Holiday Program (WHP) will soon be free on the labor market again.

  • WHP permit restriction cancelled

    The restriction that participants in an exchange program are only allowed to work for 12 consecutive weeks for the same employer, has been cancelled as of 1 October 2019.
