Barbara is a senior associate at Everaert Advocaten, specializing in immigration on humanitarian grounds, refugee law and family reunification, including proceedings regarding children and civic integration issues. Barbara is also experienced in international adoption and descent proceedings.
Prior to joining Everaert Advocaten Barbara worked with the Australian Human Rights Commission and the United Nations Office for the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva.
From December 2017 until June 2018 Barbara was seconded to the Dutch refugee council as strategic advisor EU asylum law.
Barbara is a member of the Netherlands Bar Association Advisory Committee on Immigration Law and of the Meijers Committee, standing committee of experts on international immigration, refugee and criminal law.
Barbara is Officer of the Immigration and Nationality Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA)
She regularly publishes in professional journals. She gives presentations abroad and and teaches continuing education courses on the subject to fellow lawyers. She has been a (guest) lecturer at FORUM, Stichting Migratierecht, OSR as well as VU University Amsterdam and Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.
