| Finally, passports for latent Dutch citizens |
|
The amendments of the Law on Dutch citizenship have become a fact. The amendments of this Law have been published in the 'Staatsblad' on 1 July 2010. With the implementation of the amendments, latent Dutch citizens -children born before 1985 to a Dutch mother and a foreign father who did not obtain Dutch citizenship at birth- , can now acquire Dutch nationality as well. The new law will enter into force as of October 2010.
From that moment on it will be possible for all latent Dutch citizens to file an application for Dutch nationality via an option procedure. Latent Dutch citizens, who live in a foreign country, can file their application at the Dutch Embassy. In the Netherlands, the application can be filed at the municipality. Latent Dutch citizens can also be assisted in their application procedure by Everaert Advocaten Immigration Lawyers. |
