| Seminar on Modern Migration Policy |
|
On Tuesday 23 November Everaert Advocaten organized a seminar on the Modern Migration Policy (MoMi), exclusively for our corporate clients. The new law will come into force in 2011 and will have significant consequences for employers of highly skilled migrants.
Ms Ira van der Zaal, Projectleader Modern Migration Policy with the Immigration and Naturalization Department gave a presentation on the rights and duties of the authorized sponsor of highly skilled migrants under the Modern Migration Policy. Our partner, Marcel Reurs, made comments on how, in his view, companies should approach their immigration compliance to avoid sanctions.
An expert panel, consisting of Ruud Blaakman, senior policy advisor of the employers’ association AWVN, Fred Polhout, Trade Union officer FNV bondgenoten, and Veerle Renard, Immigration Leader Europe at General Electric, discussed the presentations, giving their view on the impact the new law will have for employers.
We strongly recommend that employers of foreign workers assess how the new law will affect their HR and compliance policies.
